It came down to Ireland VS Scotland

Obama is part Irish, McCain is part Scottish. It was an easy choice lol

Obama is Irish

"Barack Obama (born August 4, 1961) is an American politician and the winner of the 2008 US presidential election. He is currently the President-elect of the United States of America and is expected to take office as the forty-fourth President of the United States on January 20, 2009. He is currently a junior United States Senator for the state of Illinois.
Obama's great great great grandfather, Falmouth Kearney was an Irishman. Mr. Kearney emigrated to New York City from Moneygall, Co.Offaly aged 19 in 1850, but later settled in Indiana. This distant connection makes President-elect Obama 6th generation Irish."

I remember watching RTE 6.1 the day the news broke. Was it really possible? Was it true? Was Barack Obama part Irish? The answer was YES! Obama's great great great grandfather was originally from a small village in Co.Offaly. The local Church of Ireland minister Canon Stephen Neill discovered the records in the home of an elderly parishoner. When asked of this Obama checked it out and later confirmed it. An Irish folk/rock band Hardy Drew and the Nancy Boys went on to write and released a song about it... 'There's no one as Irish as Barack Obama'

It's a great tune.

So anyway congratulations to President-elect Barack Obama, or should I say... Barack O'Bama. Get it?
